Have you ever been embarrassed by Loud Windows XP or Vista startup sound when you start your laptop in a class room, library, work place or any public places? This article will show you how you can disable windows startup sound in few steps.

1. Right click on blank area of desktop. And go to personalize.
2. Go to 'Sounds'.
3. Click on 'Sounds' tab.
4. From 'Sound Scheme:', select 'No Sounds'.
5. Click OK. (This will disable set of sounds which are played when different events are performed, like mouse click, opening or closing of programs, maximize or minimize windows.)
6. Apparently, you can just disable the startup sound, while keeping others, by unchecking 'Play Windows Startup Sounds'.
